Information for Carers and Supporters
Welcome to the carers and supporters section of the website
In this section carers and supporters of people with learning disabilities can find out about:
- The importance of eye care, eye examinations, and wearing glasses.
- Maintaining good eye health, identifying when there might be problems and where to go for help.
- Common sight problems and how best to support people with sight losses.
- Medical and surgical interventions that might be necessary.
We hope that much of our information is accessible to people with learning disabilities. All our visitors can watch the You and Eye film. All our information is able as factsheets or booklets.
We have included a brief Powerpoint presentation called
The Eye Care Needs of People with Learning Disabilities.
The free to use PowerPoint presentation covers all the issues that people with learning disabilities told us were important about eye care and sight loss. We recommend that social care managers and their teams use the presentation for training and information sharing.
